Ridgebacks bolster attack with addition of Wisener

The Ridgebacks men's hockey team is excited to announce the addition of Matt Wisener to the 2024-25 recruiting class.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ridgebacks men's hockey team is excited to announce the addition of Matt Wisener to the 2024-25 recruiting class.

The six-foot forward joins Ontario Tech from the North American Hockey League, where he played a season with the Aberdeen Wings. Wisener played 59 games for the Wings last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 27.

'Matt has been a great Wing." Said Aberdeen Head Coach Scott Langer, "He exemplifies our identity when it comes to his play and he has been a big piece of keeping our culture intact as a twenty-year-old. Matt is going to be a very good college hockey player."

Wisener will bring some familiarity with recently recruited Ridgeback Tayem Gislason, as the two Winnipeg natives both played for the Portage Terriers during the 2022-23 season.

"Matt is a fast, two-way forward who will be a welcome addition to our group," says Ridgebacks head coach Curtis Hodgins. "He plays a 200-foot game and is very responsible while also being able to create nicely to the offensive side of the game with his vision. Matt is also a tremendous skater and we look forward to adding that speed to our lineup come this fall."
