Ridgebacks welcome WHL stalwart Langkow

The recruiting class for the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's hockey team continues to take shape as the program is pleased to welcome newly signed goaltender Beckett Langkow.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The recruiting class for the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's hockey team continues to take shape as the program is pleased to welcome newly signed goaltender Beckett Langkow.

Hailing from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., Langkow has amassed an impressive resume while playing three seasons for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Western Hockey League (WHL). During the 2022-23 season, he led the WHL in minutes played in net, finishing top three in starts, with a record of 25-20-7. In the last season, injury issues limited Langkow to ten games split between the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) and Spruce Grove (AJHL).

"We are excited to add Beckett to our program to help solidify our goaltending as we head into the 2024-25 season," said Ridgebacks head coach Curtis Hodgins. "Beckett has some solid experience facing top shooters in the Western Hockey League, and he plays a calm and steady style that we believe will be conducive to the OUA game. I know he is motivated and ready to get back in the net in good health again, and we look forward to what he will bring to our program. "

Beckett comes from a distinguished hockey family. His father Scott, also a goalie, was a second round draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets and went on to an 18 year professional career including twenty games in the NHL. And his Uncle Daymond is a well-known name who had a long 16 year career in the NHL, including many years with the Calgary Flames.
