Ridgebacks blanked by York in 3-0 loss
TORONTO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's hockey team couldn't solve York's defence Friday night, falling 3-0 despite a strong effort from goaltender Zoe McGee.
McGee turned aside 28 shots, but the Ridgebacks were unable to capitalize on nine power-play opportunities and struggled to generate offence. York broke through in the second period with a power-play goal by Ava Ricker-Singh before adding two more in the third, including an empty-netter in the final minute.
The Ridgebacks managed 22 shots on goal but couldn't beat York netminder Emma Wedgewood, who recorded a shutout. Despite Ontario Tech's disciplined penalty kill, their inability to convert key chances proved costly. The loss highlighted a need for stronger offensive execution as the Ridgebacks look to bounce back in their next outing.
