Ridgebacks host Carleton for annual Beach Day
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's soccer team put in a strong effort at Vaso's Field for the annual Beach Day but ultimately dropped a 2-0 decision to the Carleton Ravens.
Beach Day saw the Ridgebacks accompanied by the Oshawa Kicks U11 girls team for the walkout and national anthem, with fans receiving leis, frisbees, sunglasses and more.
The Ravens opened the scoring in the 19th minute on a goal by Lauren Illman. They added to their lead in the second half, as Ava Mills found the back of the net in the 58th minute on a pass from Olivia Crombie.
Ontario Tech midfielder Tara Sisic was a bright spot in the Ridgebacks' attack, recording a game-high seven shots and consistently testing the Ravens' goalkeeper. Despite the pressure, Carleton's defence held strong to secure the shutout.
The Ridgebacks will hit the road tomorrow in Ottawa when they face the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 3 p.m.
