Ridgebacks open year with a win on the road
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks kicked off the lacrosse season on the road in London, Ont. on Sunday and picked up their first win of the season.
The Ridgebacks opened the day with an early morning match-up with the Western Mustangs, falling 14-5 to the home team. Ontario Tech found goals from Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.), and Olivia Toll (Oshawa, Ont.). The reigning Ontario Tech female athlete of the year, Jailyn Joensen (Whitby, Ont.), also opened her scoring with two goals on the game.
In the second game of the day, the Ridgebacks found their first win with a 10-6 against the McMaster Marauders. Toll found three more goals for the day and picked up two assists to go with them. Audrey Taylor (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Jolie Jankowski (Courtice, Ont.) followed shortly with goals of their own, Taylor would find two more goals to end the day with three.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action on Saturday, September 14, when they take on the Queen's Gaels and the McGill Redbirds in Kingston, Ont.
