Passmore, Grant and Stolarek named Ontario Tech athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Danika Passmore and Hunter Stolarek of women's lacrosse and Kevon Grant of men's soccer have been named Ontario Tech athletes of the week for the period ending on Sunday, October 27.
Passmore and Stolarek split time in between the pipes for the Ridgebacks lacrosse team at the OUA Lacrosse Championship this past weekend, and helped lead the Ridgebacks to a program best Silver medal. The two keepers teamed up to keep hold the Ridgebacks opponents under ten goals in their first three games at the championships.
Grant, a former U SPORTS All-Canadian, was in outstanding form once again as the Ridgebacks made the OUA men's soccer finals for the first time in program history. Grant made 10 saves in the 5-2 victory over the Varsity Blues in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, and made two clutch stops on penalty kicks in Saturday's OUA semifinals match up against the McMaster Marauders.
The Ridgebacks lacrosse is done for the year, but the Ridgebacks men's soccer team will head to Toronto to take on the York Lions this Saturday, November 2 at 7 p.m. in the OUA finals. Ontario Tech will also be hosting the 2024 Bruce Power U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship starting on Thursday, November 7, where the Ridgebacks will play at 7 p.m. at Vaso's Field.
