McLean, Langkow shine as Ridgebacks beat Ottawa 4-1
OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 4-1 on Saturday, powered by a pair of second-period power-play goals.
Justin Svenson and Ben Roode each scored with the man advantage for Ontario Tech (1-0-0), while Cullen McLean and James White added even-strength tallies. McLean also chipped in with two assists, and Andrew Suriyuth recorded three helpers.
Ottawa struck first with a goal from Bradley Chenier at 6:14 of the opening period, but Ontario Tech responded with three unanswered goals in the second.
Ridgebacks goaltender Beckett Langkow made 33 saves in the win, while Ottawa's Franky Lapenna stopped 26 of 30 shots.
Ontario Tech went 2-for-5 on the power play and held Ottawa scoreless on three power-play opportunities.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action against the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Ont. on October 18 at 7:30 p.m.
