Ridgebacks lose hard fought game one

The Ridgebacks men's hockey team took the Ottawa Gee-Gees to overtime in game one of the OUA Playoffs before falling 3-2 in the extra frame.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ridgebacks men's hockey team took the Ottawa Gee-Gees to overtime in game one of the OUA Playoffs before falling 3-2 in the extra frame.

Goaltender Beckett Langkow was stellar in net for Ontario Tech, stopping 51 of 54 shots in a game that saw the Ridgebacks heavily outshot. Matt Wisener and Gabriel Bernier provided the offence for Ontario Tech, each netting a goal.

The Ridgebacks opened the scoring in the first period through Wisener, but Ottawa quickly responded. Bernier tied the game in the third after a scoreless second, forcing overtime. However, Vincent Maisonneuve's late marker ended Ontario Tech's comeback bid.

The Ridgebacks will now travel to Ottawa where they'll need to pick up two games on the road, starting this Friday at 7 p.m.
