Coke signs CEBL contract with Scarborough Shooting Stars
OSHAWA, Ont. – Former Ridgebacks men's basketball stand-out Jayden Coke is returning to Canada after signing a contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
The six-foot-six wing had a break-out season with Ontario Tech during the 2022-23 season, averaging 20.1 points and 9.3 rebounds. Coke has played internationally since wrapping up with the Ridgebacks. He began his professional career joining the Shepparton Gators in early 2024 before signing with the KKS Polonia Warszawa in Polish 1Liga. He also appeared in the Elite 1 Caribbean Basketball League as part of Elite1 Horizon.
While playing internationally, Coke picked up numerous accolades, being named the Polish 1Liga and Australian Big V League player of the week twice for each league and being named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Australian Big V.
Coke becomes the third Ontario Tech Ridgeback to reach the CEBL, following Graddy Kanku, drafted by the Ottawa BlackJacks in 2021, and Ayub Nurhussien, who signed with the Brampton Honey Badgers last summer. The Scarborough Shooting Stars host their home opener on Tuesday, May 27, when they take on the Ottawa BlackJacks at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
