Ridgebacks fall short of comeback against Queen's

The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's basketball team was just short of a come back against the no.8 ranked Gaels, falling 99-78 on Wednesday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's basketball team was just short of a comeback against the no.8 ranked Gaels, falling 99-78 on Wednesday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Keon Baker shone for the Ridgebacks, posting a game-high 29 points, but the Gaels dominated the paint, scoring 48 points and capitalizing on 25 Ridgebacks turnovers. Ollie Engen led Queen's with 18 points, supported by 39 bench points.

Despite trailing by 24 at halftime, Ontario Tech closed the gap in the second half, spurred by Raeshaun Ambris and Emmanuel Okonkwo's 12 points each. However, the Gaels' relentless defence and efficient scoring sealed the win down the stretch.

The Ridgebacks will have a chance at redemption this weekend when they head to Kingston, Ont. for the second game of the home-and-home series on January 18.
