Suriyuth's quick strike sets tone in Ridgebacks' victory
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks came out flying Saturday, delivering a commanding 4-1 win over the Western Mustangs in front of an energized home crowd.
The Ridgebacks final home game of 2024 welcomed MADD Durham, and two youth teams, the U10 AA Clarington Toros and the U13 AA North Durham Warriors.
The Ridgebacks struck early, with Andrew Suriyuth lighting the lamp just 36 seconds into the game. Justin Svenson doubled the lead midway through the first, capitalizing on a crisp feed from Jeremy Michaud. Western responded late in the period with Franco Sproviero's tally, but that was all they could muster.
Gabriel Bernier extended Ontario Tech's lead in the second, converting a smart setup from Antoine Desrochers. The dagger came in the third as Ben Roode, assisted by Duston Hutton, sealed the deal.
