Ridgebacks increase depth with the addition of Leonard
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Ridgebacks men's hockey team is excited to announce the addition of forward Kyle Leonard to the 2024-25 recruiting class.
The Ottawa native will be joining the Ridgebacks from the Rockland Nationals where he played three seasons, totaling 144 games and 96 total points.
"He is an exceptional 200-foot center who plays in every situation," says Rockland Nationals head coach Justin Periera. "More importantly Kyle is a young man of great character who will continue to enhance a great culture that Curtis and his staff have created in Oshawa."
Leonard was awarded the Sportsmanship & Ability Award in the Central Canadian Hockey League during the 2023-24 season and was praised for his ability to manage his studies and hockey while also being a role model for his fellow teammates.
"We are thrilled to add another character player to our program in Kyle," says Ridgeback head coach Curtis Hodgins. "He is a very smart two-way player who can really skate and you can never have too much speed in your lineup. He is a bit of a late bloomer who had a breakout offensive year this past season with Rockland and we look forward to that continued development with our program."
