Full biography
A world-renowned expert in clean energy systems, Ibrahim Dincer, Ph.D., Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science research is aimed at improving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, security, design and analysis. Through a novel approach, he advocates for the development of sustainable and renewable energy and exergy technologies. Dr. Dincer’s unwavering dedication and key contributions toward a sustainable future have earned him many of his field’s highest honours. For two years running, Dr. Dincer has been named one of the world’s most highly cited researchers by Thomson Reuters in the U.S. He has been appointed Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, elected to the Turkish Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, and Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation in the U.K., to name a few. Through his esteemed career, he has published more than 700 peer-reviewed journal articles and co-authored nearly 20 books. A Founding Professor, Dr. Dincer, joined Ontario Tech University in 2003 and served as Programs Director in the faculty from 2005 to 2007. Highly motivated to engage and inspire his students to be exceptional engineers and distinguish themselves in the field, several of Dr. Dincer’s successful graduates have received a Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal for their achievements. In turn, he has received a Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Teaching Excellence Award in 2010, and an Ontario Tech University Research Excellence Award in 2008. Motivated by the desire to advance science through research, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Konya University in Konya, Turkey, and earned both his Master of Science and his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey.
