Ontario Tech adds OPDL standout Scarlett Steele
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's soccer team is excited to announce the addition of goalkeeper Scarlett Steele to the 2026 recruiting class.
A native of Wainfleet, Ont., Steele will join the Ridgebacks for the 2026 season following an accomplished development pathway in Ontario's high-performance soccer system. She spent four seasons with Niagara FC in the Ontario Player Development League, where she served as a U17 team captain and earned three Provincial Xcel invitations.
The 5-foot-6, left-footed goalkeeper has also competed at the senior level, playing with Niagara 1812 in the Women's Premier Soccer League, and continues her development with Rush Canada at the U20 level. Steele attends E.L. Crossley Secondary School in Fonthill, Ontario, and is set to graduate in 2026. She will pursue a degree in Biomedical Science at Ontario Tech.
"Scarlett's athleticism, strong technical ability, and composure on the ball allows her to command her box with confidence and build out under pressure," said Audra Sherman, Ridgebacks head coach. "Layered with her extremely positive attitude and competitive mindset, Scarlett is a great addition to our goalkeeper group."
