Sisic scores late in match up with Gee-Gees
OSHAWA, Ont – The Ridgebacks women's soccer team returned home after a three-game road trip, but fell 4-1 to the visiting Ottawa Gee-Gees.
Both teams held their own in the first half, with the Gee-Gees pressing the Ridgebacks hard and the Ridgebacks staying firm on their side of the pitch.
After halftime, Ottawa quickly took control of the game with a strike from Eva Bouity finding the back of the net in the 57th minute for the game's first goal. Alicia Chisholm (Woodbridge, Ont.) kept the Gee-Gees to one after two free kicks, but Allana Oriente found another goal for Ottawa in the 69th minute. Oriente helped The Gee-Gee's again by assisting Maya Smith with Ottawa's third goal before Ottawa added a fourth goal in the 80th minute from a penalty kick by Nino Dlamini.
Tara Sisic (Toronto. Ont.) gave the Ridgebacks their first goal in the 90th minute of the game, with an assist from Mackenzie Scott (Peterborough, Ont.)
The Ridgebacks are back home next weekend on Saturday, October 5, against the Toronto Varsity Blues and will honour their graduating seniors on Sunday, October 6 when they match up with the Laurentian Voyageurs.
