Emily Harrison earns OUA East All-Rookie honour
OSHAWA, Ont. – After a standout first season with the Ontario Tech women's hockey team, Emily Harrison has been named to the OUA East All-Rookie Team.
A native of Ottawa, Ont., Harrison tallied 10 goals and nine assists while delivered several standout moments throughout the Ridgebacks' historic season. She scored her first career goal against Toronto on October 18 and never looked back, becoming a consistent offensive presence down the stretch.
Harrison recorded two three-point performances against Toronto and York as the Ridgebacks opened the new year on a four-game win streak.
When Ontario Tech clinched a playoff spot, Harrison continued to come up big. She scored the game-winning goal on the road against Nipissing on February 20 to send the Ridgebacks to the quarterfinals, before finding the back of the net again in Game 3 against Queen's to help propel the Ridgebacks to the semifinals for the first time in program history.
"We're extremely proud to see Emily recognized for her outstanding season," said Ridgebacks head coach Kassidy Nauboris. "Emily made an immediate impact on our team and consistently showed the skill, work ethic and competitiveness it takes to succeed at this level. This award is a testament to the player and teammate she is, and we're excited to watch her continue to grow in our program."
