Nauboris picks up first win as a head coach in shut out

Ontario Tech's women's hockey team secured their first victory of the season and gave head coach Kassidy Nauboris her inaugural win, shutting out the Western Mustangs 3-0 on Saturday night.

LONDON, Ont. – Ontario Tech's women's hockey team secured their first victory of the season and gave head coach Kassidy Nauboris her inaugural win, shutting out the Western Mustangs 3-0 on Saturday night.

The Ridgebacks jumped to an early lead in the first period with two quick goals. Jordanna Connors opened the scoring at 16:07, assisted by Avery Dowson and Kayla Welk. Shortly after, Baie Marcantonio added a power-play goal at 17:32, assisted by Harrie Jones.

Ontario Tech extended their lead to 3-0 in the second period when Julia Jackson found the back of the net at 6:03, with assists from Elissa Burton and Connors.

Zoe McGee started in net and was a stand out between the pipes, stopping all 31 shots to earn the shutout.

The Ridgebacks will look to continue string together wins when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Campus Ice Centre on October 26 at 3:30 p.m.
