Women's hockey adds Bennie to defensive core
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's hockey team is excited to announce the commitment of five-foot-six defender Faith Bennie ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
Bennie, a native of Hamilton, Ont., joins the Ridgebacks program from the Oakville Jr Hornets, where she recorded 10 points in 45 games. Before her time with the Hornets, Bennie played for the Kitchener-Waterloo Rangers, where she helped lead her team to win the USA-Canada Championship in 2022.
Bennie is an accomplished athlete, helping her team to win the Lower Lakes Central Division Championship, USA-Canada Championship in 2019, Bolts and Hearts Tournament in 2019, and capturing a Provincial silver medal in 2019.
"Faith is a strong, versatile two-way D that reads the game very well. I'm excited to have her as Ridgeback and looking forward to watching her grow," says interim head coach Kassidy Nauboris.
When Bennie arrives on campus in the fall, she will enroll in the Biomedical Science program at Ontario Tech.
