WINDSOR, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks were shut out in a 2-0 loss to the Windsor Lancers on Thursday in a noon match up on the road.
Goaltender Ariella Merlino was a bright spot for the Ridgebacks, making 27 saves, but Ontario Tech's offense struggled to generate momentum, managing only 16 shots throughout the game.
Windsor capitalized on special teams, with Phoebe Gao breaking the deadlock early in the second period on a power play, scoring just 1:19 into the frame. The Lancers extended their lead to 2-0 late in the second period when Ilena Ricker-Singh scored with only nine seconds left.
The Ridgebacks will make a stop in London, Ont. tomorrow to take on the Western Mustangs at 7 p.m. before returning back to the Campus Ice Centre to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, October 26.
