Women's hockey returns home with OT win

Ontario Tech Ridgebacks edged out a 3-2 shootout victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon, in a game that saw both teams battle to a tie through regulation and overtime.

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech Ridgebacks edged out a 3-2 shootout victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon, in a game that saw both teams battle to a tie through regulation and overtime.

Julia Jackson led the charge for Ontario Tech, opening the scoring with an even-strength goal at 13:07 of the first period, assisted by Robyn Storey and Kayla Welk.

Laurier responded early in the second with a power-play goal from Arielle MacDonald, tying the game 1-1. Jackson struck again in the third period, with Mackenna Krulicki assisting, giving the Ridgebacks a 2-1 lead. However, Laurier equalized late in the third, with Olivia MacMillan scoring on the power play.

After a scoreless overtime, the shootout began, with both teams showing resilience. Ridgebacks' goaltender Zoe McGee stood strong, ultimately allowing the Ridgebacks to claim victory as Robyn Storey secured the winning shootout goal.

With this win, Ontario Tech builds momentum heading into tomorrow's game at 5 p.m., when they'll face the Waterloo Warriors. The Ridgebacks will look to capitalize on this victory and extend their winning streak.
