Ontario Tech shows fight but comes up short against Ottawa

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks showed resilience in the first half but couldn't maintain their momentum, falling 61-43 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Ontario Tech (1-20) put up a fight early, holding a four-point lead midway through the first quarter, but Ottawa (18-3) took control with a dominant defensive effort. The Gee-Gees held the Ridgebacks to just nine points in the third quarter and forced 27 turnovers in the game.

Brianna Morrison led Ontario Tech with nine points, adding three rebounds and two steals. Quincy Okubasu was a force on the boards, collecting a game-high 12 rebounds, while Adra Barnet chipped in nine points and nine rebounds.

The Ridgebacks trailed 25-21 at halftime but struggled offensively in the second half as Ottawa extended its lead. Natsuki Szczokin led the visitors with 14 points, while Emily Payne contributed 12 points and nine rebounds.

Ontario Tech wraps up their season at home tomorrow at 6 p.m. when they take on the visiting Carleton Ravens at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
