Courtice native Javayah Hope joins Ridgebacks
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team is happy to announce the addition of Javayah Hope to the program ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A forward from Courtice, Ont., Hope joins the Ridgebacks after spending three seasons at Nipissing University. The six-foot forward brings size, physicality and defensive versatility to Ontario Tech's frontline as she returns to Durham Region to continue her academic and athletic career.
Prior to her time in U SPORTS, Hope played for both Kia Nurse Elite and the Toronto Matrix on the club circuit, competing in the EYBL Rose League, AAU Run for the Roses and the Rose League. She attended Lo-Ellen Park Prep in Sudbury, Ont., where she continued to develop her game against top competition.
"We are thrilled to welcome Javayah to the pack!" said the Ridgebacks coaching staff. "She will bring toughness, physicality, and a defensive mindset to our frontline. Above all else, Javayah is a tremendous energy-giver and someone who will make a positive impact on our culture."
Hope will study psychology at Ontario Tech when she arrives on campus this fall.
