Ridgebacks fall in home opener
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team welcomed fans to their home opener on Friday evening but lost 75-46 to the Western Mustangs at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Jenna Button led the Mustangs with a standout performance, scoring 24 points and pulling down nine rebounds in 29 minutes on the court. Button's effort included three three-pointers and a steady presence inside.
Kaleah Gosse continued her impressive start to the season with 23 points for the Ridgebacks with four rebounds and three assists. Ayat Weber also finished one point and one rebound shy of a double double with nine points and nine rebounds to go with a blocked shot. Brianna Morrison made her season debut returning from injury with seven points in 15 minutes off the bench.
The Ridgebacks will return to the CRWC tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Windsor Lancers at 4 p.m.
