Ravens pull away late in gritty match up
OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team bounced back from a tough first quarter, but the Carleton Ravens pulled away late to take a 68-53 win in the Raven's Nest.
Brianna Morrison led the Ridgebacks with 18 points, shooting 6-for-13 from the field and hitting two three-pointers. Elliot Cowan added 11 points and six rebounds, while Kaleah Gosse contributed seven points and a team-high five steals.
Carleton set the tone early, outscoring Ontario Tech 24-6 in the first quarter. The Ridgebacks responded with a strong second quarter, scoring 19 points, but the Ravens maintained control. A 22-point third quarter from Ontario Tech cut the deficit, but Carleton's defensive pressure held the visitors to just six points in the final frame.
The Ridgebacks will stay in the nation's capitol for a game tomorrow against the Ottawa Gee-Gee's at 3 p.m.
