Ridgebacks open 2025 at home

The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks showed determination but fell short against the Nipissing Lakers, losing 86-58 on Friday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks showed determination but fell short against the Nipissing Lakers, losing 86-58 on Friday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Brianna Morrison led the Ridgebacks with 17 points, two rebounds, and three steals, while Kaleah Gosse added 14 points and four steals. Adra Barnet contributed 11 points and six rebounds in a spirited effort.

Ontario Tech started strong, briefly holding a lead in the first quarter, but Nipissing's depth and rebounding advantage shifted the game's momentum. Megan McCarter powered Nipissing with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Nicole Budd scored 14 points on 70 per cent shooting.

The Ridgebacks will look to rebound quickly with a quick turn around against the Laurentian Voyageurs tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
