Ridgebacks lose late in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks were just shy of finding their second win of the season on Saturday night as they lost 56-46 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay.
The Ridgebacks trailed 15-12 after a tightly contested first quarter, and were led by standout performances from Adra Barnet (Winnipeg, Man.), who had 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Felicity Villarin (Calgary, Alta.) also had 13 points while contributing 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists of her own. Marie Stasiuk had her best game of the season with 10 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench.
The two teams were in a near deadlock throughout most of the game, but the Lakehead offense, led by 20 points from Kripa Brar stayed consistent in the fourth quarter as the Thunderwolves' defence held the Ridgebacks to eight points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
The Ridgebacks will now head home for their second last game of the season, when the Carleton Ravens stop at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Friday, February 16 at 6 p.m.
