Ridgebacks add Ottawa defender Sébastien Sabourin for 2026
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's soccer team has strengthened its back line with the commitment of Sébastien Sabourin for the 2026 season.
The Ottawa, Ont. native joins the Ridgebacks following an accomplished youth career with West Ottawa Soccer Club (WOSC), where he served as a co-captain and consistent starter at multiple levels. A left back with an attacking mindset, Sabourin brings versatility, pace and leadership to the Ridgebacks lineup.
Sabourin competed in OPDL from 2020 to 2024 before moving into WOSC's Showcase and Elite programs. During the 2024–25 season, he helped guide WOSC Showcase (U17) to an OCSL Men's U21 Championship and an FTF Family Day Showdown U17 title, earning player of the match honours in the opening game. In 2025, he was named WOSC Player of the Year and received the club's Warrior Legend recognition.
He has also gained valuable experience through futsal competition, capturing the Bob Rathwell Futsal Tournament U18 championship in 2026. At the high school level, Sabourin served as captain at École secondaire catholique Paul-Desmarais, leading the program to OFSAA appearances in 2024 and 2025.
"We are truly excited to have Sebastian with us," said head coach Ramin Mohammadi. "He is a versatile player as a defender with an attacking mindset. Sebastian played at West Ottawa which provides him with high performance standards, and competitive environments. Welcome aboard!"
Sabourin will enroll in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science program at Ontario Tech University.
