Coore and Irwin named U SPORTS All-Canadians

Ontario Tech hosted the annual U SPORTS men's soccer awards banquet on Wednesday night, and two of their own came home with U SPORTS All-Canadians honours.

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech hosted the annual U SPORTS men's soccer awards banquet on Wednesday night, and two of their own came home with U SPORTS All-Canadians honours.

Kairo Coore was named as a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian team after a season with the Ridgebacks that saw him lead the OUA in goals with 11, including a hattrick against the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough, Ont. on September 27.

Alexander Irwin was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian after serving as the Ridgebacks captain and leading a Ridgebacks defence that had five clean sheets throughout the regular season. Irwin also turned into a consistent offensive threat this season, contributing four goals in the regular season and four more throughout the playoffs, tying him for first in the OUA for playoff goals.

Irwin and Coore helped lead the Ridgebacks through a turbulent middle of the season to the first OUA Championship in program history while the Ridgebacks and Ontario Tech prepared to host the upcoming U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship.
