Ridgebacks win big in Kingston
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks' power play was firing on all cylinders Friday night, scoring four times en route to a 5-1 win over the Queen's Gaels.
After Queen's opened the scoring midway through the first period, Ishan Mittoo quickly responded for Ontario Tech off a feed from Alex Drover and Zachary Marquis to even the game 1-1. Ludovic Dufort then capitalized on a power play later in the frame, assisted by Alex Papaspyropoulos and Marquis, to give the Ridgebacks a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission.
The Ridgebacks continued their dominance on special teams in the second, netting three more goals with the man advantage. Braiden Koran struck first, set up by Justin Svenson, followed by Svenson himself converting on the next power play with help from Antoine Desrochers. Moments later, Desrochers picked up his second assist of the night as Gabriel Bernier buried Ontario Tech's fourth power-play marker to make it 5-1.
Rookie goaltender Beckett Langkow was sharp between the pipes, stopping 34 of 35 shots for his second win of the season. Ontario Tech outshot Queen's 33–35 and finished 4-for-8 on the power play while holding the Gaels to 0-for-4.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action Saturday at the Campus Ice Centre as they host the Nipissing Lakers for their annual Think Pink game in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
