Ontario Tech’s playoff run ends in Toronto
TORONTO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's soccer team saw their season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 4–2 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA quarterfinals at Varsity Stadium.
Toronto opened the scoring less than two minutes in through Russell Stewart before David Reilly tied it up for Ontario Tech in the eighth minute, finishing a setup from Imran Abdulatif. The Blues responded quickly, however, with goals from Alexei Ivanov and an own goal to take a 3–1 lead into halftime.
Andrea Schifano extended Toronto's advantage early in the second half before Nika Gaeini pulled one back for the Ridgebacks in the 65th minute on an assist from Noah Mossavat, but that was as close as they would get.
Goalkeeper Peter Sheberstov made four saves in the loss for Ontario Tech, while Filip Zendelek stopped two for Toronto.
