Ridgebacks close out 2025 slate in North Bay
NORTH BAY, ONT. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team wrapped up the 2025 portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon, falling 6–2 to the Nipissing Lakers in their final game before the winter break.
Nipissing built a 3–0 lead through 40 minutes, striking twice in the first period and adding another late in the second. The Ridgebacks responded with a push in the third, as Ludovic Dufort put Ontario Tech on the board at 13:18 off a setup from Alex Papaspyropoulos and Kyle Leonard. Just 43 seconds later, Justin Svenson buried another, again assisted by Papaspyropoulos, to make it a 4–2 game.
Despite the surge, the Lakers answered with two goals in the final five minutes to close out the scoring. Edouard Gauthier finished with 27 saves for the Ridgebacks.
With the first half of the season now complete, the Ridgebacks head into the winter break and will return to action on Saturday, January 10, when they travel to face the McGill Redbirds. Ontario Tech will then host the third annual Carriage Cup on Thursday, January 15. Fans can find ticket information and event details by visiting goridgebacks.com/carriagecup.
