TROIS-RIVIÉRES, Que. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks powered to a 5-2 victory over the UQTR Patriotes on Friday night in Quebec.
The Ridgebacks controlled the game with an early scoring burst. Marko Jakovljevic opened the scoring at 11:29 in the first period, setting the tone for Ontario Tech. Gabriel Bernier followed with two goals, including a power-play tally assisted by Justin Svenson and Antoine Desrochers, giving the Ridgebacks a 3-0 lead by the end of the first.
James White extended Ontario Tech's lead to 4-0 midway through the second period, assisted by Jakovljevic and Cullen McLean.
UQTR fought back in the third, with Anthony Munroe-Boucher and Charles Beaudoin each finding the back of the net, but Ontario Tech sealed the win with an empty-net goal by McLean at 18:44. Beckett Langkow was sharp in goal, making 29 saves on 31 shots.
The Ridgebacks next game will see them return to the Campus Ice Centre on November 14 when they take on the Brock Badgers at 7 p.m.
