Ridgebacks fall to Gee-Gees at Campus Ice Centre
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks dropped their Friday night matchup 4-1 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Campus Ice Centre.
Ottawa opened the scoring midway through the first on a power play goal by Max Grondin, then doubled their lead late in the period with a marker from Ethan Montroy. The Gee-Gees extended their advantage in the second when Mitch Martin tallied to make it 3-0.
Ontario Tech's Nathan Poole got the Ridgebacks on the board early in the third, burying a feed from Antoine Desrochers and Jeremy Michaud, but Martin sealed the game with his second of the night, an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Goaltender Beckett Langkow stopped 17 shots for Ontario Tech, while Ottawa's Franky Lapenna made 36 saves to secure the win.
The Ridgebacks outshot Ottawa 37-21 and went 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Gee-Gees finished 1-for-3.
Ontario Tech will rebound tomorrow with a game against the RMC Paladins at 5 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre.
