Neil-Simpson named men's basketball lead assistant coach
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team is proud to announce Rahsean Neil-Simpson as the new full-time assistant coach.
"I'm excited to welcome Rahsean as our new lead assistant coach," said Deluxshan Pathmanathan. "His passion for the game and dedication to player development align seamlessly with the culture we're building. I have no doubt that he will make a meaningful impact on our program."
Neil-Simpson joined the Ridgebacks as a student-athlete in 2019-20 for the inaugural season, providing a veteran presence for the young team as a transfer. He would remain a mainstay for the team until he graduated after the 2021-22 season.
While his playing career was done, Neil-Simpson wasted no time joining the Ridgebacks on the bench as an assistant coach, helping guide players with his experience as a Ridgeback student-athlete. Throughout his time on the coaching staff so far, Neill-Simpson has helped contribute to the most successful three-year period in school history, which most recently saw Ontario Tech reach the OUA semi-finals for the first time in school history and produce two OUA All-Stars.
With this appointment, Neil-Simpson becomes the first Ridgebacks men's basketball alum to occupy a full-time position on the coaching staff.
"I am extremely honoured to be a part of the men's basketball program here at Ontario Tech University," said Neil-Simpson. "Witnessing the program's growth over the years has been incredible and has made me a very proud member of our alumni community. Having the opportunity to support student-athletes in a position similar to the one I once held is truly a blessing. I'm honoured to contribute to the program's continued success both on and off the court."
