Baker named OUA Athlete of the Week
Burlington, Ont. – Keon Baker, Hannah Bourdon, and Zack Stringer have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending November 23rd, 2025.
Keon Baker, Basketball, Ontario Tech Ridgebacks
Baker put it all on the line for the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks’ last weekend as his consistent scoring secured two key wins. He led the Ridgebacks in scoring both games, putting up 22 points in Ontario Tech’s win over Laurier. His 30 points in the win over Waterloo was almost half of his team’s scoring.
The veteran guard from Ajax, Ont. was dominant on the defensive end as well, contributing seven rebounds in Friday’s contest, while notching a double-double on Saturday with 10 rebounds including seven defensive boards in his 30-point performance. He was a solid 10-19 from the floor, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. The liberal studies student got hot in the final frame against the Warriors putting up 11 points to propel his team to their third straight win.
Baker’s impressive weekend puts him within the best in the conference, averaging 19.0 points per game.
Hannah Bourdon, Basketball, Guelph Gryphons
Bourdon, the fourth-year guard was instrumental in the pair of home victories for the Guelph Gryphons over the McMaster Marauders and Brock Badgers last week. On Wednesday night, Bourdon finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals as she helped guided her side to a 73-65 home win over the Marauders.
The sport and event management major would build off that performance on Saturday afternoon against the Brock Badgers. Sitting on 14 points through three quarters of action, Bourdon would go off in the final quarter.
The Fort Erie, Ont. native closed out the game scoring 16 points in the final quarter, going a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc and grabbed six boards as she was the catalyst for the Gryphons in their 85-77 win.
Bourdon outscored the Badgers 16-14 in the final quarter alone, capping off her career-high 30-point game win the victory. Bourdon hit a career-high seven three-pointers in the game, finishing 7-of-11 from beyond the arc and 10-of-20 from the field. She also led the way on with 17 rebounds, while also picking up a game-high 4 steals to go with 4 assists. The Gryphons currently lead the OUA West division with an 8-2 record following their fifth straight win.
Zack Stringer, Hockey, Brock Badgers
During their weekend road trip, the Brock Badgers claimed a 6-2 victory against the Waterloo Warriors and backed that up with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the York Lions.
Stringer came out on fire against the Warriors, scoring just 16 seconds into the contest to give Brock a 1-0 lead. Just over 11 minutes later, the second-year forward potted his second goal of the period to double up the advantage. He would later add an assist to cap off his three-point-night in the victory.
On Saturday, the Badgers carried over their momentum against the Lions, with Stringer scoring the go-ahead-goal on the power play to put Brock up 2-1. The labour studies student was the eventual overtime hero, burying the game-winning goal just 21 seconds into the extra frame to cap off a five-point-weekend with four goals and one assist.
Stringer from Lethbridge, Ont. leads his team with 12 points through his 11 games.
