OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball program is happy to announce the commitment of Peter Dela Paz to the 2024-25 recruiting class.
Dela Paz is coming to the Ridgebacks after spending two years with the Algoma Thunderbirds, where he won the Algoma Men's Basketball Coaching award in 2022 and was a two-time U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian. Before joining the Thunderbirds, he spent time at Dawson College in the RESQ.
"I'm really excited and grateful to have an opportunity to be joining the men's basketball program at Ontario Tech," said Dela Paz. "There is lots of talent, from players to coaching staff, and I am thrilled to be part of a winning and hard-working culture. I am looking forward to bringing some veteran leadership on and off the court and help us get to the next level!
The addition of the veteran guard marks the first time the Ridgebacks men's basketball team will have a master's student on their roster as Dela Paz pursues his master's in Business Analytics and AI.
"I am very excited to have someone with Peter's leadership and maturity join our young team," said Ridgebacks head coach Deluxshan Pathmanathan. "Peter will be the first master's student on our roster. I am looking forward to having him help us build our program into a contender this year."
