Baker hits 1,000 career points as Ridgebacks fall to Brock

Despite a historic milestone from Keon Baker, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks dropped a 71–62 decision to the Brock Badgers on Friday, January 23, at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

OSHAWA, Ont. — Despite a historic milestone from Keon Baker, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks dropped a 71–62 decision to the Brock Badgers on Friday, January 23, at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Baker became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, finishing the night with a team-high 26 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while adding three rebounds and two assists. The milestone basket came in the second half, marking a significant moment in Ridgebacks men's basketball history.

Ontario Tech trailed 46–30 at halftime before putting together a stronger third quarter, outscoring Brock 17–11 to cut into the deficit. The Ridgebacks continued to battle in the final frame but were unable to fully close the gap as Brock sealed the game from the free-throw line.

Emmanuel Okonkwo added 12 points and eight rebounds, while TJ Richards chipped in nine points for the Ridgebacks. Ontario Tech shot 37.5 percent from the field and held a narrow edge in points in the paint, but Brock capitalized from beyond the arc and at the foul line.

The Ridgebacks will return home tomorrow for International Night, welcoming the Algoma Thunderbirds to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
