Baker, Okonkwo lead Ontario Tech in Ottawa setback
OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team dropped a 72–61 decision to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Thursday night at Montpetit Hall.
Keon Baker led the Ridgebacks with a game-high 19 points, adding three assists, two blocks and a steal in 29 minutes of action. Emmanuel Okonkwo provided a strong spark off the bench, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding six rebounds and five assists.
Mark Stoop was effective on the glass for Ontario Tech, recording eight rebounds to go along with six points, while Caleb Kassa contributed seven rebounds and four points. Tombe Pitia chipped in six points and five rebounds, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
Ontario Tech finished with 31 bench points and held a narrow edge in second-chance scoring, while Ottawa capitalized on fast-break opportunities and points in the paint.
The Ridgebacks are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, January 10, when they visit the Carleton Ravens on the road. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Ottawa.
