OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks erased a three-goal deficit but fell 4–3 to the Queen's Gaels on Friday, February 13 at the Campus Ice Centre.
Queen's opened the scoring early and built a 3–0 lead through 20 minutes, capitalizing on their chances in a fast-paced first period.
The Ridgebacks found life in the second. Nathan Poole got Ontario Tech on the board at 15:32, finishing a setup from Alex Papaspyropoulos and Ben Roode to cut the deficit to two heading into the third.
Ontario Tech carried that momentum forward. Just nine seconds into a third-period power play, Papaspyropoulos buried a one-timer off feeds from Kyloe Ellis and Gabriel Bernier to make it 3–2. The comeback was complete at 11:35 when Braiden Koran finished a pass from Zachary Marquis and Nolan Ford to even the score at 3–3.
The Gaels responded late, regaining the lead at 15:54 and holding on the rest of the way.
Edouard Gauthier made 29 saves in the loss, while the Ridgebacks pushed hard in the final frame, outshooting Queen's 18–8 in the third period.
Ontario Tech closes out the regular season tomorrow at 5 p.m. when they host UQTR for graduating senior's day.
