Ontario Tech celebrates Seniors Day ahead of playoffs
OSHAWA, Ont. – With sticks raised and families filling the stands, the Ontario Tech men's hockey team celebrated their graduating class before closing out the regular season with a 4–1 loss to the UQTR Patriotes on Saturday, February 14 at the Campus Ice Centre.
Before puck drop, William Robinson, Dustin Hutton, Justin Svenson, Nolan Ford, Alex Drover, Antonie Desrochers, Ben Roode, Braiden Koran, Jeremy Michaud and Gabriel Bernier were recognized for their commitment, leadership and lasting impact on the Ridgebacks men's hockey program, while Michaud and Bernier were presented with framed photos for entering the 100 Games Club this season.
The game remained scoreless through 20 minutes before the visitors found momentum in the middle frame. Ontario Tech answered midway through the period when Ishan Mittoo finished a feed from Zachary Marquis and Alex Bradshaw, bringing the crowd to life on Seniors Night.
The Ridgebacks continued to push in the third period, outshooting their opponents in the final frame and generating sustained pressure, but were unable to find a way back onto the scoreboard.
With the regular season now complete, the Ridgebacks turn their attention to the postseason. Ontario Tech will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the first round of the OUA Playoffs, with Game 1 set for Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre.
