Baker’s double-double lifts Ridgebacks past Voyageurs
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team had a strong road performance on Saturday, earning a 75–72 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs at Ben Avery Gym.
Ontario Tech's offence clicked early with 22 points in the first quarter and a 28-point second frame to build momentum heading into halftime. Despite a late push from the Voyageurs, the Ridgebacks held steady down the stretch to secure their first win of the season.
Keon Baker powered the Ridgebacks with a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double, shooting 8-for-13 from the field and knocking down two threes. Johan Germain added 13 points, while Caleb Kassa finished with 10 on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance. Ontario Tech also saw strong frontcourt efforts from Mark Stoop six points, six rebounds and Tombe Pitia, who contributed four points, four boards, three blocks and a steal.
As a team, the Ridgebacks shot 52.6 per cent from the floor and outscored Laurentian 38–26 in the paint.
Ontario Tech now turns its attention to Friday, November 21, when they return home to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks.
